DIY Facemask Recipes

Updated: Apr 5, 2019

1. Honey, Chamomile, and Oatmeal.

    Not just for breakfast!

2 chamomile tea bags

1 tbs Raw Honey

1/2 cup Raw Oats

Chamomile is full of antioxidants and has great anti-septic and anti-bacterial properties that are great for lightening dark spots and fighting acne. Brew a strong cup of chamomile tea using 2 tea bags and let cool.

Oats can help prevent acne, and soften skin. Not to mention act as an awesome exfoliant and buff away dead cells. If you own a coffee grinder, grind your oats into a fine powder. If not, whole oats are okay too.

In a small bowl, combine your oats with just enough tea to make a paste. It might be a little runny at first, but it’ll thicken as the oats expand.

Honey is extremely hydrating and protects skin from external dangers (it can be used as a natural bandaid too!). Mix in your raw honey, and apply all over your face and neck. Let the mask dry for 10-15 minutes, and wipe away with a warm wash cloth.

2. Charcoal Detox Mask

  1. Tsp of activated charcoal or one AC capsule

  2. 1/2 tsp Honey

  3. water

  4. 1 packet of unflavored Gelatin (peel off mask optional)

Activated charcoal can draw dirt and toxins from skin, while minimizing pores.

For peel-off:

Combine charcoal and gelatin in a small bowl, gradually mix in hot water. Stir in honey and let the mixture cool down a bit. Apply to face a neck.

Allow 20-30 minutes for Mask to dry fully. Once dry, peel away. Wipe away any residue with a warm wash cloth. Pat skin dry.

For wipe-off:

Combine charcoal, water, and honey in a small bowl. Apply to face and neck, let sit 15-20 minutes before washing your face with a warm washcloth. Pat skin dry and apply moisturizer if needed.

You can buy charcoal from your local drug store or just peruse Amazon like I do.

3. Lemon and Honey. Almost like Lemonade!

1 tbs Raw honey

2 Tbs lemon juice, or 7-10 drops lemon essential oil

Lemon juice is used to reduce the appearance of blemishes and to lighten skin.

Combine ingredients in a small bowl, apply to face and neck. Let sit 10-15 then wash away with a warm washcloth.

DO NOT exfoliate prior to using this recipe, the acid in lemon juice can burn exposed skin/cuts.

Try this Honey from Amazon.com

4. Energizing Coffee Mask

This simple Mask consists of

1 tbs Brown or cane sugar

2 tbs Coconut or any oil of your choice

2 tbs Ground coffee

Coffee can help lighten skin (great for stretch marks) and unclog pores while giving you that boost of energy your skin needs.

Combine coffee, sugar and oil to form a paste. Apply to skin and neck in soft circles, and allow to sit for 15-20 minutes (brush your teeth, take your morning constitutional).

Rinse away with warm water and enjoy a bright face.

5. Bentonite Clay Mask

Bentonite clay is the holy grail of detoxing ingredients. Great for skin, hair and much more.

Mix 1 tbs of clay, with a little warm water until you get a paste like consistency. Apply to your face and neck, and let dry for about 20 minutes.

You’ll feel your skin tightening as it dries. Once fully dry, wipe away with a warm wash cloth.

This is where I get my Bentonite Clay

Remember: always begin your facial with warm water and competing it by rinsing with cold water. Cold water works to close pores, while hot/warm water open them.

If you have not used certain ingredients on your skin before, remember to patch test on a small portion of you skin to see if any sensitivity may occur.

Always google what other ingredients are useful in improving your areas of need.
